Freedom, respect, fairness, and equal opportunity. These are the principles that Australia was founded on that our soldiers have fought so valiantly to protect.
Acorn Stairlifts wants to acknowledge all of the brave men and women who have served our country this Remembrance Day. Thank you for your service and dedication to protecting Australia.
What is Remembrance Day, and When Is It?
Remembrance Day takes place on November 11 every year and honours all Australians who have fought from all wars.
The reason behind the selection of this specific date goes back to World War I. It was during the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month that the Allied forces and Germany declared an armistice, or a temporary peace agreement, during World War 1.
This day became known as Armistice Day, “a day to remember those who died in World War One.”
Over the next several decades, Armistice Day slowly evolved to become known as the Remembrance Day we observe today, honouring all Australians who have served during any war or conflict.
Ways That We Can Thank Our Veterans for Their Service
Provide Mental Health Resources to Veterans Suffering From PTSD
Unfortunately, a lot of Veterans suffer from PTSD after being on the battlefield. PTSD has a significant impact on one’s quality of life, causing distress and disruption not only to the Veterans themselves, but to their loved ones.
For this reason, there are an abundance of resources out there for Veterans suffering from PTSD to receive the help they require.

Donate Money to Veteran Organisations
Donating money to reputable Veteran organisations that use their money in the right way is an impactful way to show your support and appreciation for their service.
Look into the many charities whose missions are to aid our Veterans and choose your favourite ones to donate to.
Help the Homeless Veterans
No person that protected our homeland should have no home to return to. You can help homeless Veterans by donating to charities, reaching out to organisations that can provide them with housing, or even just personally providing them with a hearty meal to fill their empty stomachs.

Thank the Veterans You Know and Love in Your Life
Sometimes a simple “thank you” can warm a Veteran’s heart and make them feel valued and appreciated. Take the time to thank all of the Veterans that you know and love in your life who have served our country and protected you and the lives of all Australians.
They are the ones who have fought to allow us to enjoy the freedoms and fortunate lives that we lead here in Australia.
